Who We Actually Are

We're not your typical suit-and-tie firm. Started this thing back in 2012 because honestly, we got tired of seeing cookie-cutter buildings pop up everywhere.

Our studio

The Real Story

Look, we started Blaze Warden Quest because someone had to push back against boring buildings. Toronto's changing fast, and we wanted to make sure it changes for the better - not just taller, but smarter.

We've been at this for over a decade now, working on everything from ground-up commercial towers to restoring century-old homes that deserve a second life. The sustainable design stuff? That's not a trend for us - it's literally baked into every single project we touch.

Our tagline "Igniting Innovation, Guarding Excellence" sounds fancy, but it just means we won't let a project go out the door unless we're genuinely proud of it. Call it obsessive, we call it caring.

Meet The Team

Five personalities, one shared obsession with good design

Sarah Chen

Sarah Chen

Founding Principal & Lead Designer

Started drafting buildings on napkins during her undergrad - hasn't stopped since. She's got this weird ability to see a site and immediately know what it wants to become. Handles most of our commercial projects and won't compromise on energy efficiency.

Marcus Webb

Marcus Webb

Heritage Restoration Specialist

The guy who actually reads century-old building codes for fun. Marcus treats old buildings like they're living things - probably because to him, they are. If you've got a heritage property that needs love, he's your guy. Also makes terrible coffee.

Priya Malhotra

Priya Malhotra

Interior Space Planning Director

Priya thinks in three dimensions better than anyone I've ever met. She'll walk into a space and within minutes, she's already reimagined the whole flow. Our residential clients absolutely love her because she actually listens to how they live.

David Okonkwo

David Okonkwo

Urban Planning & Development Lead

Dave sees the bigger picture - like, the whole neighbourhood picture. He's constantly thinking about how our buildings fit into Toronto's urban fabric. Gets genuinely excited about zoning bylaws, which is both weird and incredibly useful.

Emma Rousseau

Emma Rousseau

Sustainability & Green Design Consultant

Emma's basically our environmental conscience - except she's way more fun at parties than that sounds. She can calculate a building's carbon footprint faster than most people can check their email. LEED certifications are her jam.

Team Support

Plus Our Support Crew

Junior Architects & Design Associates

We've got an amazing team of younger architects and designers who keep us honest and bring fresh perspectives. They're the ones catching our mistakes at 2am and suggesting tech solutions we didn't know existed. Honestly, we'd be lost without them.

What Actually Drives Us

Every building we design has to answer one question: will this make Toronto better? Not just prettier - actually better. Does it use less energy? Does it give people spaces they'll actually want to be in? Does it respect what's already there?

We're not trying to win awards (though we've snagged a few). We're trying to create spaces that people will still appreciate in 50 years. The kind of buildings that become part of the neighbourhood's story instead of just taking up space.

And yeah, we're big on sustainability - but not in that preachy way. It's just smarter design. Why wouldn't you want a building that costs less to run and doesn't trash the planet? Makes zero sense to us.

How We Actually Work

First meeting? We're gonna ask you a ton of questions. Some of 'em might seem random, but trust us - we need to understand how you actually use space, not just what you think you want.

Then we'll show you sketches - lots of 'em. Some might be way out there, just to see what resonates. We're big believers in iteration. The first idea's rarely the best one.

Throughout the whole process, we keep you in the loop. No radio silence for weeks while we work on stuff. You're part of the team, whether you like it or not.
